§125.

§126. ⇒

希求法アオリストの三つの用法 (目次)

英語原文

The context must decide whether an aorist optative in an indirect question represents the aotist subjunctive (as in 3) or the aorist indicative (as in the last examples under 1). Thus the first example under 3 might mean they asked whether they had given ip their city, παρέδομεν τὴν πόλιν ; But in most cases the aorist subjunctive is the direct form implied, and an aorist indicative used in a direct question is generally retained ; εἰ ἀναπλεύσειεν in 1 is, therefore, exceptional.
